Vice Chair Intro: Milana Tatarintseva

 


Hello!
My name is Milana Tatarintseva and I’m one of your vice chairs. I'm looking forward to a weekend of exciting debate on such an intricate and rich topic!

I’m a third-year majoring in Computer Science and minoring in BioEngineering. I've always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and medicine, particularly bioinformatics. In high school, I attended BMUN twice as a delegate and had a fantastic experience, so I'm very grateful to be able to be part of BMUN for my third year at Berkeley.

I grew up in Los Angeles and though I miss the beaches and endless sunny days, I've really come to appreciate the beauty, diversity, and excitement of the Bay Area. In my free time, I enjoy checking out the countless coffee shops around, playing card games, and occasionally going on hikes. 

The dynamic nature of JCC creates the potential for incredibly innovative and adaptive solutions. I hope you learn something new as you prepare for committee and come ready for an engaging experience. Good luck and can’t wait to see you all in March!

 Hello again delegates! As conference approaches, I'd like to discuss a little bit our committees procedure and our expectations for how committee will flow and how you will engage with it. Procedure  Our committee(s) will use standard BMUN crisis procedure. From our collective experience as chairs, we believe that this procedure is the best method to promote thoughtful debate while also enabling the dynamic nature of crisis committees. This procedure also lends itself to our committees in that delegates will be representing members of a sort of cabinet or alliance that must discuss and debate on what  collective actions to take as a united front while also getting regular updates to the situation of Spain.  For those of you not familiar with BMUN or any crisis procedure, I'll give a brief overview here. Head Chair Introduction: Alex Plewinski

 Hey delegates, welcome to the BMUN LXX JCC Blog! My name is Alex Plewinski and I'm going to be your head chair for our joint crisis committee on the Spanish Civil War. I'm super excited to see what you guys do with this interesting, complex, and chaotic topic in committee this year. A little about me: I'm from Miami, Florida and this is my second year in BMUN and in Berkeley. I'm really loving California so far, particularly for the great weather, geography, and people. I'm studying mechanical engineering, which has been something I've been interested since my freshman year of highschool. Suggestions for solutions

Hello Delegates, In this blogpost, I will be discussing some general suggestions towards solutions you can implement in your respective committees. Looking at your position papers, it seems you are all already on the right track and have done some great research to inform your proposed solutions, so I'd just like to highlight some things to give you an idea of what the dais hopes you address or show consideration towards in your in-committee solutions and actions. One thing to note is that for all solutions and directives, we are looking for them to be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-oriented (SMART).
