Vice Chair Intro: Milana Tatarintseva

Image
Hello! My name is Milana Tatarintseva and I’m one of your vice chairs. I'm looking forward to a weekend of exciting debate on such an intricate and rich topic! I’m a third-year majoring in Computer Science and minoring in BioEngineering. I've always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and medicine, particularly bioinformatics. In high school, I attended BMUN twice as a delegate and had a fantastic experience, so I'm very grateful to be able to be part of BMUN for my third year at Berkeley. I grew up in Los Angeles and though I miss the beaches and endless sunny days, I've really come to appreciate the beauty, diversity, and excitement of the Bay Area. In my free time, I enjoy checking out the countless coffee shops around, playing card games, and occasionally going on hikes.  The dynamic nature of JCC creates the potential for incredibly innovative and adaptive solutions. I hope you learn something new as you prepare for committee and come ready for an e

Head Chair Introduction: Alex Plewinski

Hey delegates, welcome to the BMUN LXX JCC Blog! My name is Alex Plewinski and I'm going to be your head chair for our joint crisis committee on the Spanish Civil War. I'm super excited to see what you guys do with this interesting, complex, and chaotic topic in committee this year. A little about me: I'm from Miami, Florida and this is my second year in BMUN and in Berkeley. I'm really loving California so far, particularly for the great weather, geography, and people. I'm studying mechanical engineering, which has been something I've been interested since my freshman year of highschool. My interest in engineering hasn't prevented me from also pursuing my interest in global affairs and politics. I started MUN as a way to keep myself learning and thinking about these kinds of important topics and I quickly fell in love with it.  This will be my first time as a head chair of a committee and I hope that you all enjoy the topic and committee, the vice chairs a

Vice Chair Intro: Deepak Ragu

Hey Guys! My name is Deepak Ragu, and I am super excited to be one of your vice-chairs for the Joint Cabinet Crisis Committee this year! I am currently a junior at UC Berkeley, and I'm a Computer Science and Political Science double major. Having done MUN since 7th grade, I'm super excited to once again chair at BMUN! During high school, I've had the opportunity to both compete in and chair crisis committees, so I look forward to teaching about the Spanish Civil War and helping you improve your crisis abilities as well. Outside of MUN, I'm involved with a few other organizations at Cal as well, including Sigma Alpha Nu (co-ed pre-law fraternity). In my free time, I usually just hang out with my friends and play card games, or catch up on tv shows like The Flash and How I Met Your Mother. If you have any questions related to BMUN, Berkeley and its beautiful campus, MUN in general, or otherwise, feel free to send me an email at dragu@bmun.org or contact the BMUN secre

Vice Chair Isabel Shiao Introduction

Image
Hello delegates!  My name is Isabel Shiao, and I will be one of your Vice Chairs for JCC. This will be my third year in BMUN, where I also serve as the USG of Outreach and Education. I am so excited to meet you all soon and have fruitful debate about the Spanish Civil War. I am a senior at UC Berkeley studying History on a pre-law track, with a minor in Art History. My concentration is in the early 20th century (WWI, interwar era, and WWII), and I absolutely love art from that period too. In my free time, I enjoy watching Bojack Horseman, experimenting with new recipes, and watching Twilight with my roommate.  This year's JCC topic has a special place in my heart, given my academic background. Understanding the roots of fascism is increasingly relevant everyday, not only to better understand our past, but also our polarized, global society today. Our committee will be a great opportunity to delve into the nuances of each faction within the Civil War and see if we can change the cou

Introducing Vice Chair Eric Wang

Hey all! My name is Eric Wang and I'm excited to be one of your vice chairs for BMUN 70. I'm a junior studying Computer Science here at Berkeley. As a Bay Area native I competed here at BMUN in high school. Outside of Model UN, I'm conducting research on operator interfaces for unmanned aerial vehicles, learning how to ballroom dance, and am an avid board game player. Also, I'm always on the hunt for good movies and TV shows so please drop some in the comments below. See you at conference! Eric Wang
